Walmart Facing Boycott Threats Over 'Impeach 45' Shirt

The "Impeach 45" clothing was still available on Walmart's website as of Tuesday morning. The number refers to President Donald Trump, who is the 45th president.

Ironically, the manufacturer who is responsible for these highly-contested shirts have also sold merchandise that is staunchly Pro-Trump, having mass-produced "Make America Great Again" hats in the past.

The call for a Walmart boycott seemingly picked up steam as conservative media outlets spread the word about the shirts.

This isn't the first time Walmart has encountered backlash for selling political items.

But the accusations miss a crucial fact about how Walmart runs its website, or more specifically, its third-party marketplace, where the items appeared.

"These items were sold by third party sellers on our open marketplace, and were not offered directly by Walmart", a spokesperson said.

However, according to das Bild, Seehofer called the meeting on Saturday evening an "ineffective conversation". If that country does not have an arrangement with Germany, Austria has agreed to take them back.

Items both for and against President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are also for sale.

After complaints, custom shirt company Teespring removed the shirt from the site.

The shirt was removed from the store's website after the Radio Television Digital News Association sent a letter to the company about the shirt, according to the group.

Last November, Walmart drew ire over a shirt on its site that sported the phrase "Rope". The hashtag #BoycottWalmart even began trending on Twitter.

President Trump's campaign manager, Brad Parscale, tweeted Tuesday that Walmart was removing the T-shirt and a boycott was not necessary. "Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required", on its third-party marketplace. We have reached out to Walmart for comment, and will update this story with any reply.
