George Clooney involved in scooter accident in Italy

OLBIA, Sardinia Actor George Clooney slammed his motorbike into an oncoming auto that turned suddenly into his lane Tuesday and was thrown several yards in the air on the Italian island of Sardinia, according to video of the crash. According to Clooney, he was going about 65 miles per hour, nothing ridiculous, when a vehicle cut him off, hitting him head-on.

It happened Tuesday morning in Sardinia.

Clooney was riding his motorized scooter to set Tuesday morning when he was struck by a vehicle.

Italian news agency ANSA and local newspapers report the star was taken by ambulance to the A&E of the John Paul II hospital in Olbia.

The actor and director, 57, was taken to hospital following the incident but was later discharged with a minor knee injury, state news agency Ansa reported.

Clooney is a Northern Kentucky native. Photos from the scene of the crash, published by the Daily Mail, show the smashed windshield of the Mercedes E SW, and the windscreen demolished on Clooney's bike as well.

Clooney's spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, explained the accident to the media, relaying that, "He's doing fine".
