Republicans nominate Trump for Nobel Peace prize

A group of Republican members of the US Congress on Wednesday nominated American President Donald Trump for his efforts on North Korea's nuclear program.

The comments came days after Moon met with Kim at the Demilitarized Zone, which was the first time in history a North Korean leader stepped into the South's territory. "Will his sentence be that he brought peace to Korea, forestalled a nuclear conflict, and won a Nobel Peace Prize in the process?'"

The selections and announcements of the Nobel Laureates and the Laureates in Economic Sciences for a given year typically occurs towards the end of the year, usually from mid-September to early October.

"I just want to get the job done", he proclaimed, after fondly pronouncing the word "Nobel". He is well deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize.

The question stands - should Trump receive a Nobel Prize for his work with the Koreas regardless of his hate-filled demeanor in the U.S.? Now, President Trump could be among them. "And even President Moon says that and he's been great", Trump said to supporters at a rally in MI last weekend.

His administration has cautioned the United States seeks "commitment" rather than "words" from the North Korean leader on yielding lasting peace.

Tesla's Record-Setting $710 Million Loss Sends Shares Tumbling
Tesla said that it expects to achieve profitability in the second half of 2018, as long as it executes "according to our plans". Tesla's market cap is now $50.9 billion, making it the second-most valuable United States automaker behind General Motors Co.

The very idea, put forward by a handful of Republican lawmakers in a Wednesday letter nominating the USA president for the esteemed award, is enough to make his American and worldwide detractors cringe.

The Nobel committee operates under aegis of the government of Norway, but a 2009 justice department memo says the prize and accompanying $1.4m award does not qualify as a "emolument" from a foreign power, as the committee is independent from the government. "I expressed this to President Moon Jae-in his personal gratitude for Trumps leadership".

Furthermore, giving Trump a Nobel Prize equates him withpeople like Martin Luther King Jr. and Malala Yousafzai.

For Trump's fervent supporters, the looming summit with Kim, all but unimaginable just months ago, is proof that his often-impulsive presidency can break through barriers, change the rules of the diplomatic game, and succeed where his predecessors have failed.

The US and China have been locked in a bitter dispute over tariffs on metals and other products, raising fears of a trade war between the world's two largest economies.
