OnePlus 6 hands-on: Slick looks come at a higher price

The company is hosting the OnePlus 6 unveiling event in London and is slated to go live at 5 pm BST (9:30 pm IST) local time. At the company's London event, Carl Pei called the OnePlus 6 design their boldest design yet. Just on paper, the OnePlus 6 will convince some fans because of its performance and software. When you separate them, they turn on. Personally, I can vouch for OnePlus' sturdy built quality as my old OnePlus 3T has slipped off my hands numerous times.

On paper, the OnePlus 6 is a force to be reckoned with.

Yes, the new OnePlus 6 delivers an experience similar to the Galaxy Note 8 or iPhone X, and it's almost 50% cheaper. Long story short, this phone is ridiculously fast. And, because this is an AMOLED panel, I can say with some degree of confidence that contrast ratios and colour reproduction are going to be close to ideal, even before I've had a chance to turn our colour calibrator loose on a review unit. The front-facing camera on the OnePlus6 will still have an impressive 16MP camera, capable of shooting in portrait mode.

The OnePlus 6's dual camera system features a 16MP main camera, supported by a 20MP secondary camera. The camera has OIS and a sensor that's 19 percent bigger than the one on the 5T-that's all great.

The OnePlus 6's display is another bright spot, both literally and figuratively.

The new OnePlus 6 will feature an Optic AMOLED display with a 6.28-inch FHD screen.

Video capture is similarly uncompromising, allowing users to capture at up to 480 frames per second at 720p resolution for a whole minute, retroactively choosing specific moments to edit into slow motion via its new video editor, alongside cropping, adding filters and even music.

Another little thing that OnePlus includes with the phone is a pre-applied plastic screen protector. It's also remarkably bright, and colors really pop on that lovely AMOLED panel. Speaking about the alert slider on OnePlus 6, it is expected to come with new shortcuts for the camera according to teasers.

That's why we're comparing the OnePlus 6 vs OnePlus 5T to see how different these two "flagship killer" Android phones really are. Plus, with Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the back (as well as front), the phone is set to take a few hits without breaking down. I haven't tested that claim just yet, but I certainly plan to.

OnePlus reiterated its stance on the device being much more than a list of specifications, with its OxygenOS allocating more processing power to an application upon launch, ensuring a smoother, uncompromising experience.

The OnePlus 6 comes with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB storage /8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB / 256GB storage. With the option for 256GB of internal storage, buyers now have the option to opt for a larger storage device. Look for it in your choice of mirror black, midnight black or silk white (note the white model doesn't arrive until June 5).

The OnePlus 6 launch has been one of the most anticipated smartphone releases of the first half of 2018 and here's everything we know about the upcoming smartphone so far.

While the materials and design certainly bring it more inline with popular flagship phones from the likes of Samsung, Huawei and Apple, there is one remaining feature that appears to be dying off elsewhere: the 3.5mm headphone jack.
