Ireland Eurovision entry one of two censored in China

With both the countries having already qualified for Saturday night's live final, if China were granted airing rights then they'd cut out their entries again, which is something Eurovision organisers says isn't an option.

The EBU announced on Friday the termination of its contract with China's MangoTV, preventing it from broadcasting Thursday's second semi-final and Saturday's grand final hosted in Lisbon, Portugal. It also appeared to blur rainbow flags waved by the audience.

As you might have heard, the annual Eurovision Song Contest is now underway with the final taking place on 12th May. Last month Chinese social media network Sina Weibo backtracked from a controversial gay content ban after a massive outcry. But the severity of the ban is surprising given the perceived value of expanding the Eurovision brand into Asia broadly and into China specifically.

According to the most recent update of the big bookmakers, Cyprus will win the Eurovision Song Contest and claim the title for the first time in history.

Seoul had previously said it sufficiently confirmed the women's free will in escaping from the North and resettling in the South. Pence, meanwhile, said on Twitter he would sit for interviews with NBC, ABC and to be broadcast on their morning news programs.

Though it has not yet transpired, there has been a prevailing sense behind the scenes that China would be the next country the EBU would invite into the European song competition, following the template established by Australia in 2015. "A great Eurovision song is simply a great song".

Mango TV has not commented on the ban.

One account, The Voice of Homosexuality, said the broadcaster's decision to remove references to homosexuality was a "major step backwards". "In the very start we've simply said really like would be enjoy, does not matter whether it really is among two men, two ladies, or some man and a girl", he said.

Eurovision has always been popular with gay fans, and rainbow flags are a common sight at the final alongside those of participating nations.
