Federal front: Mamata meets Sharad Pawar, Kanimozhi in Delhi

Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday renewed her efforts for opposition unity as she met with party leaders from across the opposition spectrum during her day in Parliament House.

Banerjee also met Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. "The time has come for this BJP to pack up and go", she said.

Reacting on the leaked election dates of Karnataka Assembly polls, Banerjee said all institutions were becoming BJP institutions as the saffron party was "using and misusing" multiple agencies.

On whether she would be meeting UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi during her visit to New Delhi, the chief minister said, "She is hospitalised".

West Bengal secretary Surya Kanta Mishra today criticized the ruling TMC and BJP over conducting armed Ram Navami rallies and demanded that TMC should convene a all party meeting in the state.

She asserted that all opposition parties should work together to oust the BJP. "I was a part of that government, even now there are some good people but they are sidelined". "Whether one agrees with it or not, the message about demonetisation, GST and bank fraud has gone down to the people, just as whether one agreed at that time or not the message about PM Indira Gandhi's garibi hatao, nasbandi and Emergency had all gone down to the people".

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Mamata said, "Yes, Sonia Ji is unwell right now and recovering".

TMC leaders said she is planning to meet Sonia Gandhi. No one will be allowed to organise processions in the area of another community and murder a person, she said.

Talking to reporters after her meeting with the NCP chief, the West Bengal Chief Minister said, "when political leaders meet, they do discuss politics". "We are strongly with her and (SP leader) Akhilesh Yadav in this mission for the nation", she had tweeted.

In her interaction with DMK MP Kanimozhi, Mamata Banerjee said that she is confident that the "DMK is coming to power" and the party has her support. "It is best to work along with everyone", Mamata had said after meeting Rao.

The TDP has recently ended its four-year alliance with the BJP and announced its exit from NDA over its demand for special status for Andhra Pradesh.

In recent weeks, Ms Banerjee also had engagements with other regional leaders including Lalu Prasad Yadav (RJD), Akhilesh Yadav (Samajwadi), Mayawati (BSP) and Arvind Kejriwal (AAP).
