Air Canada computer issues causing congestion at some airports

Air Canada said it had resolved "computer-telecommunications issues" that affected operations on Monday, but delays and some cancellations were still expected due to the outage.

Air Canada customers in foreign airports have also been raising concerns about long lines and check-in delays.

"We apologize for any inconvenience and are working towards restoring our service as quickly as possible", the airline said on Twitter.

All flights are now available for purchase via the Air Canada app, at aircanada.com and through travel agents. A similar message was posted on the carrier's official Facebook page an hour later.

Others were slightly delayed and the airport referred travellers needing immediate assistance to contact Air Canada at 1-905-671-7769 or through the Air Canada Jazz website, flyjazz.ca.

Tweets from several Air Canada hubs, including Toronto Pearson and Vancouver International airports, called the issue a "worldwide" outage.

Customers are advised to check the status of their flight and check-in online before going to the airport.

The issues were resolved shortly after 2:00 p.m., but customers were left reeling from the technical meltdown.
