A police officer and two sheriff's deputies were shot Friday morning in Locust Grove, Ga., south of Atlanta, and the suspect in the shooting was killed, authorities say.

Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes watched on as police officers escorted children home in the Hawthorne at Linden Park subdivision in Locust Grove.

The names of the officers, along with that of the suspect, have not been released.

Several media reports stated that it happened as the officers were serving an arrest warrant at a home in Locust Grove, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) southeast of Atlanta.

McBrayer said one deputy was in serious condition and undergoing surgery, and had been hit below the bullet-proof vest.

As a precaution, Locust Grove Elementary School said it was on lockdown, News4Jax reported. The two injured deputies were Michael Corley and Ralph Sidwell "Sid" Callaway, both with the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
