Oakland Raiders Announce Jon Gruden New Head Coach

Gruden was introduced as the Oakland Raiders' head coach on Tuesday.

The head of the diversity group that works with the NFL on its hiring practices confirmed to NFL Network's Steve Wyche last Thursday that Oakland is in compliance with the Rooney Rule, which requires teams to interview at least one minority for any head coaching vacancy.

Among the four reasons Gruden offered for returning to the sidelines were: A love of football, a love of the City of Oakland, and a love of the Raiders. He spent the past nine seasons in a broadcast booth as a color commentator for ESPN's Monday Night Football. There's no question. I have not coached since 2008. He still has to put together a good bit of his staff, analyze what all went wrong with the team in 2017 and get ready for free agency and the NFL Draft. Player safety has now emerged as a critical part of the game. That's been the No. 1 criteria I've tried to bring every place I've been as a head coach. "Never been more appropriate than today".

Celebrities Are Safe, Luv Tyagi Bids Adieu To The Show
The living area of the Bigg Boss house was turned into a museum where monuments and artefacts worth (fake) Rs 25 lakh were placed. This season has been the most controversial one along with a lot of twists that shocked the inmates as well as the viewers.

"In my heart I feel this is the thing to do", Gruden said when asked about why the timing was finally right. So I think I'm more big picture now than I was in the past.

The coach also steered clear of discussing any specifics about the nature of the team he's taking over, which is coming off a disappointing 6-10 season, but did heap praise on quarterback Derek Carr. But I still want to be very detailed in the way we play offense, I still want to be very involved in how we move the football. I think he's got a huge upside.

Gruden made it clear that McKenzie would continue to be the team's general manager and said personnel decisions would be a collaborative effort.
