NBA All-Star: Kings' Hield, Bogdanovic selected to Rising Stars game

The game will be aired on TNT.

Philadelphia 76ers duo Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid were named Wednesday, January 24, for the NBA's Rising Stars game, part of All-Star weekend on February. Those performances put Murray among an elite group, including Anthony Davis, Karl Anthony-Towns, Damian Lillard, Joel Embiid, Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, as the only first- or second-year players since 2001 to post 30-plus points, 5-plus rebounds and 2-plus assists in back-to-back games. He ranked tied for first among qualified rookies in blocks per game, second in field-goal percentage (59) and fourth in rebounds. The 25-year-old plays like a seasoned veteran for Sacramento, posting 11.4 points and 3.4 assists in 26.8 minutes a night. He also ranks third overall in the National Basketball Association in free throw shooting percentage at 92.4%.

Hield makes his second-straight appearance after being selected as a rookie last season. Simmons is widely viewed as the favorite to win Rookie of the Year.

The initial look at the rosters points to the World having a slight edge over the US team, but that will be largely dependent on how much burn Embiid gets in this game with the All-Star game also on his schedule.

Bogdanovic and Hield are the 14th and 15th players in Kings history to land an invite to the event and the first since Isaiah Thomas represented the team during All-Star weekend 2013.

Lakers rookies Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma highlight the USA team that will face them.

National Basketball Association assistant coaches are responsible for selecting the players to compete in the Rising Stars event this year.
