Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus off in tears with knee injury

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola feels more needs to be done to protect players from suffering serious injuries after seeing Kevin De Bruyne carried off in a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Brazilian, 20, went off in tears after appearing to injure a knee during the first half at Selhurst Park.

Both players left the pitch on stretchers, and things looked bleak with the 26-year-old's leg put in a brace - but thankfully pictures emerged after the final whistle of De Bruyne walking with support, and BT anchor Jake Humphrey informed viewers that he told commentator Ian Darke that he was "OK".

Immediately after the save, City broke away and Jason Puncheon cynically scythed down De Bruyne, injuring the Belgian and himself in the process.

"He's injured in the terms hopefully it will only be one or two months", he said.

"Maybe it's just a huge kick, but maybe he will not be ready for the Watford game in two days".

"We were lucky against Tottenham, with Kevin, we were lucky against Newcastle, (with Ilkay) Gundogan; today we will see what happens".

"I don't know (what's going to happen) but he's a player of Arsenal and I think he is going to stay there", he said.

With City 14 points clear atop the Premier League table, do they really need another attacking player for a few months?

"They are a good team".

"Maybe I didn't see the penalty very well", Guardiola added.

That came in a dramatic finish to the match, which saw Ederson save Luka Milivojevic's late penalty to keep City unbeaten in the league this season.
