LaVar Ball: Lakers 'don't want to play' for coach Luke Walton

Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle sounded off on an ESPN report Sunday that sourced Lakers' forward Lorenzo Ball's father, Lavar Ball, as stating that Los Angeles coach Luke Walton had "lost the team".

Ball, the outspoken father of Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball, told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that Walton has lost control of the team and players "don't want to play for him".

"You can see that they're not playing for Luke (Walton) no more", Ball expressed to ESPN. Get the app and get the game. Printing an article where the father of an National Basketball Association player has an opinion, that's printed as anything that's legitimate, erodes trust.

The 37-year-old Walton, in his second season as the Lakers head coach, has compile a 37-83 record entering Sunday's game against the Hawks. "Luke doesn't have control of the team no more". They don't really know what's going on in the overall picture.

Lonzo only shot 8 times throughout the game, but knocked down 4 shots, including three 3-pointers as he poured in 11 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in the loss.

"No, I'm saying they should look at their sources and do a better job of determining whether they have any merit or any validity".

Bills fans donate almost $400K to Andy Dalton, Tyler Boyd charities
Now here's the really great part - Buffalo Bills fans started donating to Andy Dalton's foundation within hours as a "Thank you". Boyd initially said he hoped to raise $20,000, but when grateful Bills fans blew past that, he changed the goal to $50,000.

"I feel very secure in my job status right now", Walton said.

Carlisle said Walton has the support of the association.

Carlisle was upset that ESPN would even give a platform to Ball. "So when they have comments on teams, chemistry, that kind of stuff".

Ball didn't specify why he believes winning a championship with the Lakers would be so important for LeBron's legacy, but he said adding James to a team that includes his sons Lonzo and LiAngelo would be an automatic recipe for a title.

Walton contended that he had not seen any frustrations with Ball in response to his coaching style and said he hoped comments coming from the player's father did not have an impact on the fan narrative or the organization's decision making.

So far, the Lakers have been committed to Walton as their coach and have not shown any signs of turning away from him anytime soon.
