John Dickerson replaces Charlie Rose on 'CBS This Morning'

John Dickerson will replace Charlie Rose on "CBS This Morning", effective Wednesday, CBS News President David Rhodes announced Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

The announcement, from CBS News president David Rhodes on Tuesday, comes more than a month after Rose was sacked from the network amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

John Dickerson with his new "CBS This Morning" co-hosts, Gayle King, left, and Norah O'Donnell. That sets him apart from ABC "Good Morning America" host George Stephanopoulos, who continues to host ABC's "This Week" on Sundays.

The CBS journalist was raised by Nancy Dickerson, the first female member of the Washington TV news corps. Dickerson is a familiar face to the CBS audience as he entered the network in 2009 and spent his time working on the politics beat, where he covered several presidential campaigns and moderated two presidential campaigns for the network.

Trump's tough talk should worry Pakistan
Even as India is emerging as a close confidant of the US, Trump's stunning blow could derail Pakistan, unless it has other ideas. The senator said his bill would call for this saved money to be invested in building infrastructure at home in the United States.

"John's impressive track record and strong all-around journalism extends our commitment to real news coverage every morning at CBS News", Rhodes said in a statement.

CBS has been mired in third place in the broadcast morning show wars for decades. Hill was later replaced by Norah O'Donnell, and now Dickerson will replace Rose, making King the only original host. "CBS This Morning's" viewer totals (around 3.7 million) have remained steady as well since Rose's departure. On Jan. 2, NBC announced live on the air that Today veteran Hoda Kotb would officially join Savannah Guthrie at the show's anchor desk.

In response to the stories, CBS severed ties with Rose, who also contributed to the network's long-running newsmagazine 60 Minutes, with PBS dropping his eponymous interview show. He served as the network's political director for six years and was named moderator of FACE THE NATION in June 2015.
