Could It Be … Finally? Black Widow's Standalone Movie Scores a Writer

After what has felt like a lifetime, it looks like Marvel is finally giving the fans what they want - a Black Widow solo movie. But it does have a writer (Jac Schaeffer signing on to pen the script), and that's not too far off.

She also wrote Nasty Women, a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, starring set to star Hathaway and Rebel Wilson.

Recent reports have revealed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has received a long-awaited addition in the form of a standalone "Black Widow" film that stars Scarlett Johansson.

Browns hiring Packers executive Eliot Wolf
Wolf will serve as the team's assistant general manager, while Highsmith has been named the vice president of player personnel. The same can also be said for the Browns' 2 current vice presidents of player personnel Andrew Berry and Ken Kovash.

Emily Blunt was originally cast as Black Widow for Iron Man 2 but had to drop out after scheduling conflicts with Gulliver's Travels. While a Scarlett Johansson-led Black Widow film is not yet a done deal, attaching a writer to the project is the first major step forward in the movie becoming a reality. The actresses' contract with Marvel studios was to expire after Avengers 4. Since then, she has appeared in 6 Marvel films and is scheduled to appear in Avengers: Infinity War later this year. Schaeffer's script, titled The Shower, which was put on The Black List a few years ago, is now currently in development. In order to build up the universe in Phase 1, Marvel Studios released a slew of standalone origin story films that were loosely tied together by post-credits scenes that promised the heroes would eventually unite in The Avengers. "It would have to be totally different than any of the other standalone films". Even though we do not know details on the studio's plan of action for the film, this is probably the best news that can come for all Black Widow fans as of now. It's only right - Black Widow has been in the Avengers for so long. Johansson has previously explained that the busy schedules of both herself and Marvel Studios had been a roadblock for a Black Widow solo film.

If Marvel wants its own offering of R-rated films, a solo Black Widow project would be the ideal way to do it.

Despite her being a rather prominent character in the MCU, Marvel have failed to give her the leading role. Why?
