Deutsche Bank subpoenaed to provide Trump accounts' data

A German business newspaper is reporting that special counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank as part of his investigation into possible Russian involvement in the US presidential election campaign. The news came from German newspaper Handelsblatt, Bloomberg and Reuters, which cited unnamed sources.

But that report, based on a single anonymous source, was called into question nearly immediately by a Fox News report quoting another anonymous source near Mueller, who said there was no subpoena from Mueller's office to Deutsche Bank.

Although limited in detail, the spending report offers the first insight into the scope and scale of Mueller's investigation, which has resulted so far in criminal charges against four people who worked on Trump's presidential campaign.

"I think that's a violation", Mr. Trump told the paper.

Deutsche Bank, which has loaned the Trump organisation hundreds of millions of dollars for real estate ventures, said it would not comment on any of its clients.

CNN Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju tweeted that Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee actually blocked the Trump finances subpoena, refusing to order Deutsche Bank to hand over the Trump Organization's financial records. Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pleaded guilty Friday to lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, becoming the fourth associate of the president ensnared by Mueller's probe.

Sources said two civilians were hit by pellets while the third one sustained a bullet injury during the clashes. In December, three soldiers were killed when motorcycle-borne militants fired on an army bus in south Kashmir.

News of the Deutsche Bank subpoena may escalate Trump's vitriol toward investigators, which over the past week has included publicly attacking the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, whose reputation he declared to be " in tatters".

The Trump International Hotel is shown on August 10, 2017 in Washington. Mueller's investigation had expanded to examine a broad range of transactions involving the president's businesses, including dealings by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, a person familiar with the probe told Bloomberg News after the publication of the Times interview.

Previous special counsel investigations, including probes of President Bill Clinton in the late 1990s, have also spent millions over a few months' time.

Democratic senators, including Dianne Feinstein, suggested after the Flynn plea that Mueller might be building an obstruction of justice case against Trump.

"Trump was aware of the issue a couple of weeks before a conversation with then-FBI Director James B. Comey in which Comey said the president asked him if he could be lenient while investigating Flynn, whom Trump had just fired for misleading Pence about the nature of his conversations with the Russian", the Post said.
