Apple Pay Cash rolls out to iOS 11.2 users in the US

The tech giant on Tuesday rolled out its peer-to-peer payments system, which enables iPhone owners in the USA to exchange money within iMessage, or by asking Siri to pay someone.

Unfortunately, this applies to just the latest crop of iPhone devices - iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone Plus that have wireless charging features integrated. Apple has launched the Apple Pay Cash service in the US.

Apple rolled out iOS 11.2 over the weekend earlier than scheduled in order to immediately address a critical bug that had devices crashing left and right on that date.

Unlike its competitors, Apple Pay Cash doesn't work on Android devices.

Venmo, Cash app, iPhone users might be off that permanently because Apple has pulled the lid off their cash sharing feature Apple Pay Cash. We were able to use it on Monday, but it's not available to everyone yet.

Apple's iPhone now has a built-in way to send cash via a text message. From here, your Apple Pay Cash balance can be used to make purchases in stores, apps, the web or even transfer it to your bank account. But Apple Pay Cash is different. If you use a credit card, there is a 3% fee on each transaction, which can be avoided altogether by using a debit card. That is, you can send money for free if you use a debit card.

Besides selecting the amount you would like to send via the iMessage app, you can also just type things like "Oh and $5 more bucks for snacks" like in the image below. Users can link their bank account or debit card to the app for transactions.

Saying something like "Send x dollars to Zac using Apple Pay cash" is a super fast and satisfying way to pay others.
